Board of Directors

President – Sara K Butler, AIA, PMP, LEED GA

Sara is the Director of Architecture for the Nashville office of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood (GMC). A graduate of Auburn University, Sara’s firm The CFP Group merged with GMC in 2012. She has served on the Tennessee State Licensure Board for Healthcare Facilities and has been a member of the Circle of Red for the American Heart Association. In 2008, Sara was recognized as a “Healthcare Hero” in the Nashville Business Journal. She is a member of Leadership Healthcare and is a board member on the Nashville Healthcare Council. Sara will use her experience designing healthcare facilities and her passion for helping others to further the mission of Springboard Landings. 

Vice President - John P. Cooper

John is an Account Manager for Critical Mass, an experience design agency with a relentless focus on the customer. He believes people and relationships are the cornerstones of life. John relocated back to his hometown of Nashville in 2018 after spending 5 years in Hong Kong where he helped launch and grow CM’s office to service INFINITI Global. His prior experience includes working both agency and client side in high-growth and Fortune 500 companies spanning music, telco, automotive, and technology industries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate and Organizational Communication, with a minor in Psychology, from Western Kentucky University.

Secretary – Richard Chambers

Richard was a teacher at Father Ryan High School from 1970 – 2014 and is now retired.  He received a B.S. from the University of Dayton and a M.A. from Middle Tennessee State University. Richard was Adjunct Professor at UT Nashville for four years, and a Consultant for the College Board Southern Regional Office from the 80’s to the present. Richard volunteers for Room in the Inn and Habitat for Humanity. His exceptional rapport and understanding of young people and adults, as well as his compassion and dedication, will greatly enhance the furthering of the mission of Springboard Landings.

Treasurer – Dawn Morgan Bagby

Dawn is a previous retail business owner for over 20 years. She served as Vice-President of sales and marketing for a wholesaler and coordinated the relocation of one of the largest Disaster Recovery Centers in the United States. Dawn owns and manages commercial properties and has served on many business boards.  Her background is an asset to the initial development and the ongoing daily operations of Springboard Landings.  She does not have a child with developmental disabilities but feels the need those parents have to provide for their children when they are not here to do so. She has the passion to be involved and give of her talents to further the mission of Springboard Landings. 

Director – J. Ward Chaffin, CPA, MBA

Ward is the Principal, Accounting and Business Solutions, at Crosslin PLLC in Nashville. He is an active CPA in the State of Tennessee and a member of the AICPA and TSCPA. His clients include small to mid-sized businesses, not-for-profit organizations, medical practices, and distribution companies. Prior experience includes being the Corporate Controller for a startup physician practice management company and the Director of Finance for an educational technology company. Ward graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. He also received a Master of Business Administration with honors from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Director – Father Mark Hunt

Father Mark Hunt is a native of Nashville and a  graduate of Father Ryan High School (1985) and Spring Hill College (1989) in Mobile Alabama. While at Spring Hill, Mark volunteered once a week tutoring residents at the Larche Community, a residential home for people with disabilities.  Before entering the seminary in 1996 Mark worked for seven years as a case worker for Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement first in Dallas, Texas as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and then in 1990 here in Nashville, Tennessee.  Fr. Mark received his Master of Divinity from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2001.  He was ordained to the priesthood in June of 2001.  He was first assigned to be Associate Pastor at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN and later he taught theology and was Chaplain at Pope John Paul II High School.  In the fall of 2003 he was assigned to Father Ryan High School as Associate Principal, while being In Residence at St. Matthews in Franklin, TN.  In the summer of 2007 he became Associate Pastor at St. Matthews and Chaplin at Father Ryan High School. From 2008-2017 Fr. Mark Hunt was pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. His current assignment is as Chaplain at Mary Queen of Angels, an assisted living facility and Mercy Convent.  He serves on the Board of Catholic Charities here in Nashville and on the Tennessee Office for Refugees Board.

Director – PJ McWilliam, Ph.D.

PJ earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Although now retired, her work career was in the area of early childhood special education. This included direct service to young children (birth to age 8) with disabilities and their families, research, in-service training of professionals, university-based pre-service education, and faculty training. She served as Assistant Director of the Family, Infant, and Preschool Program in Morganton, NC, was a researcher at Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, and a faculty member in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. Dr. McWilliam is also the parent of a 37-year- old daughter with developmental disabilities.

Director – R. Matthew Nicks

Matt has worked for more than 30 years in the environmental consulting industry assisting a variety of companies and institutions across the country to address specific concerns related to environmental investigations and remediation, renovations of buildings, reconstruction of damaged facilities, new acquisitions and purchases of land. He earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas, holds certifications in related areas, published articles in professional journals, and has taught environmental courses.  He is a member of numerous Boards and Commissions. Matt’s expertise is invaluable as we move forward to bring SL to fruition.

Founder / Director – Charles Cooper

Charlie is a retired CPA/Accountant and former business owner.  He served as chief financial officer for a company which owned various businesses. Charlie understands and supports the mission and vision of Springboard Landings and is committed to working with members of the Board and the community to ensure the success of this organization. He served as president of Springboard Landings for ten years, and is the parent of an adult with developmental challenges.
